Frequently asked questions

Does the ADA require a service-dog ID card?

No. The ADA does not require an ID card, certification, or registration for a service animal to enter places open to the public. This record is optional and does not change your rights or obligations under the ADA.

Does this record certify or register my service dog?

No. ServiceAnimalID does not certify, register, or determine eligibility for any animal. It creates a handler-submitted record — the details you provide, organized in one place and kept on file.

What happens when someone scans the QR code?

The QR code opens the handler-submitted record page on most phones, with no app or login required. It shows the details on file. It does not confirm legal status, eligibility, or access rights.

When will I receive my record?

Digital items — the QR-linked record page, downloadable PDF, and Apple Wallet access when available — are generated after successful checkout and fulfillment, then delivered by email. Physical record cards are mailed separately.

Does this replace airline or housing documentation?

No. Air travel follows U.S. Department of Transportation rules and housing follows the Fair Housing Act — separate frameworks from the ADA. This record does not replace DOT forms, housing documentation, medical records, or any other required materials.
